Quebec police say they had to intervene urgently at a park on Saint-Charles Avenue around 1 p.m. on Sept. 12. The facts allegedly took place in a skate parkjust in front of the Cité-des-Jeunes school in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
“We’re talking about an altercation between two minors, which allegedly prompted the police to intervene. On the spot, we proceeded to arrest a young man for armed robbery,” explains a spokesman for the SQ, Nicolas Scholtus, on the subject.
An investigation has been launched in recent days to clarify the facts. “The images broadcast on social networks will be analyzed by our services,” said Mr Scholtus.
Videos of the knife attack have been proliferating online since yesterday. The press could watch at least four. After what appears to be a verbal altercation, we see a young man in a gray sweatshirt, hood on his head, rushing towards his victim, before stabbing him several times in the body.
The victim, only 13 years old, then manages to escape from her attacker. Another video shows blood dripping on the victim’s clothing. Shortly afterwards, a passing adult is said to have managed to subdue the 15-year-old attacker.
Mr Scholtus confirmed on Tuesday that the 13-year-old victim was taken to a hospital after the incident. “He suffered injuries that left no fear for his life,” he said. The underage young man, meanwhile, was taken to a youth center pending his appearance before being released under certain conditions. He has been charged with assault with bodily harm, assault with a weapon and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
“Because You’re Offended”
In another series posted to Instagram, we also hear another young man confronting the attacker and accusing him of stabbing the teen only because he was “offended”. “Hey, the number of times we’ve insulted my mom, did I pull you up with a knife?” ‘ he then asks him. “You stabbed someone because you were offended,” another launches.
Finally, a final video shows a police officer who arrived on the scene, proceeding to arrest the suspect, handcuffing him to the ground, citing him the right to remain silent and to have a lawyer. The attacker is eventually taken away in a patrol car.
Following this affair, the management of the Cité-des-Jeunes school has sent a letter to the parents, stating that the pupils will be able to meet with stakeholders. “It can also be helpful to discuss with your child what they have experienced or heard. Rest assured that the school is working with the police to support them in their investigation,” the establishment wrote.
“Too much violence at such a young age in the Greater Montreal area, it has to stop,” pleaded the Rap Culture Montreal page, a community with tens of thousands of Instagram subscribers, who forwarded the videos. .
This is the third violent incident near a school in recent days. On Friday, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the courtyard of a school in the Anjou district. The Monday before, an 18-year-old man had also been attacked by three people in the Maisonneuve college in the afternoon.
