On the occasion of the 39th Heritage Days, the National Veterinary School of Alfort and its museum invite you for free guided tours on 17 and 18 September 2022. The perfect time to discover the history of this atypical place and perhaps awaken vocations in young visitors .

Fancy a visit that goes off the beaten track? Heritage Days ? On the occasion of the 39th edition of this European cultural event,Alfort National Veterinary School and the Fragonard Museum of the Veterinary School invite you to discover their history and their buildings, the September 17 and 18 2022. The establishment, whose main location is located Houses-Alfortis one of the most prestigious veterinary schools in France.

Created in 1766 by the architect Jacques Germain Soufflotthe school covers an area of ​​12 hectares and includes the Fragonard Museumwith one of the most impressive veterinary collections in the world, as well as a botanical garden labeled “Remarkable Garden”.

It should be noted that seven of the buildings on the site are listed under the historical monuments in 1992. Today the school welcomes more than 800 students and 80 teacher-researchers. This exceptional place will open its doors to us again this year, for the Heritage Days; the opportunity to learn more about the history of the place and to discover one of the oldest schools in Île-de-France.

    The Fragonard Museum is one of the oldest museums in France. It was founded in 1766, at the same time as the Royal Veterinary School of Paris.

    The collection has gone through the centuries, resisting revolutions and wars, to present you an exceptional heritage dedicated to animals, preserved in a fascinating place. Moved three times during its 250 years of existence, it offers the image of a place out of time where thousands of objects are presented to the eyes of visitors transported in the atmosphere of the late 19th century. .

    The museum remained closed to the public until 1991, when it reopened and quickly became a huge success. It was renovated in 2008 and now welcomes visitors to the setting it had in 1902.
