Microsoft Korea General Manager Kun-bok Lee gave a presentation on “Smart Glasses Application Field” and “Smart Glasses Trend and Trend Analysis”
Kun-bok Lee, said while introducing the role and importance of glasses in the age of the metaverse.
The IT environment evolves as society changes. IT culture started with personal computers, then web, mobile and cloud, and now we welcome the next generation IT culture, the ‘metaverse’. In response, the glasses will evolve from an optical assistive device to a digital assistive device in the future.
Director Lee explained that the glasses, as a digital aid:
- will replace smartphones
- provide information by recognizing objects
- provide intuitive information
- will help process overwhelming digital information
Tools are needed because the real and digital worlds are intertwined, not just for the virtual world. Realistic content will increase through different interaction methods such as staring, gestures, voice commands and sound. Microsoft has developed a device that uses the retina, giving the impression that information is unfolding in front of our noses with a hologram formed on the retina of the eye. Currently, it is used for testing educational and professional training purposes in the industrial environment.
There is a lot of research and development in the field of tools related to the metaverse, but it is important that we do not focus solely on the development of smart devices. Indeed, if we prioritize the development of the virtual world, it can become too detached from reality. All these technological developments are only intended to make reality more practical. Therefore, the glasses of digital aids should clarify this and be developed as such.
Then Xavier Bonjour, director of marketing and partnerships at microoled, the leader of microdisplays in France, presented a conference. Microoled leads the ActiveLook “Lite AR” sports eyewear technology, which provides the eyewear industry’s lightest display module on the market today.
Xavier Bonjour lectured at the conference on ‘Lite AR – Visual Information Implementation for the Sports Eyewear Industry’.
Sports eyewear technology provides real-time visual feedback. When visual information is presented in an accessible manner, a person can make judgments in an instant. He also said that sports eyewear technology is being offered as a tool to achieve goals. For example, it can be used for performance tracking, training, coaching, biometric feedback, and indoor and outdoor activities.
