As expected, HTC unveiled the first smartphone made for the metaverse at a conference on June 27, 2022. In concrete terms, the smartphone distribute content platforms such as Twitch, Disney+ and Netflix directly on the virtual reality glasses. The two devices communicate via the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) 2.24 wireless standard. This protocol is intended to prevent the illegal copying of digital high-definition content.

This combination allows the wearer of the glasses to view content in his/her own way “own private cinema” wherever it is,” said Shen Ye, global product manager at HTC, in a press release. Note, however, that VIVE Flow is compatible with all Android devices.

Thanks to the reverse charging of the smartphone, it is possible to charge the battery of the connected glasses. Within the Android interface of the Desire 22 Pro there is an application called Live Manager† It allows you to configure all your hardware for virtual reality.

The Desire 22 Pro also includes several standard applications designed to allow access to the Viverse, the metaverse developed by HTC† Within this digital universe it is possible to design your own avatar, access meeting rooms in virtual reality and create non-fungible tokens (NFT). An NFT is also offered when purchasing the terminal. Finally, with the Viverse, Internet users can: “create their own virtual space” to their taste.

HTC’s new production also benefits from the features introduced on the Exodus range, the brand’s blockchain phones. So there is a digital wallet that allows you to store cryptocurrencies on the blockchain. Ethereum (ETH) and Polygon (MATIC).

In addition, the Desire 22 Pro has: a very classic technical sheet† The smartphone is aimed at the mid-range and is topped with a 6.6-inch LCD display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chip which is backed by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. On the back is a triple photo sensor.

The smartphone will be available in France at the price of 449 euros† For now, HTC has not communicated a release date.
