But why bother with performance?
On a daily basis, the subjects of performance and its monitoring are often perceived negatively. As a source of stress if you ask the teams on site. And as an extra source of work if you ask those responsible.
However, talking about performance is just another way to talk about improving the work environment for the whole team!
For example, for teams, talking about performance makes it possible to organize workflows and methods to work more efficiently, waste less time on uninteresting routines and why not reduce workload in general.
In fact, talking about performance is a way to get teams to prioritize and thereby gain power over current issues, rather than following and suffering without really knowing why.
Talking about performance thus makes it possible for managers to have a team that works less hard and is much “smarter”. And because of this, you know where you are going and at what stage of progress you are.
It also allows you to unblock situations where communication can be difficult.
This finally allows us to put in place processes that transform the business into a system that works for us and as much as possible without you. Do you see the idea?
Blind spot performance?
The subject is all the more important, finally, since for many companies performance is a non-subject whose problems and consequences are in a blind spot.
Frequently, the perception of the entrepreneur or manager is that the performance is very satisfactory. However, if you scratch a little, you realize that the teams don’t have specific objectives (we’re not even talking about actionable objectives) and there’s no system to monitor progress.
We also realize that no one is trained or equipped to handle internal communication problems. And we realize that no one internally coaches or supports the teams in their efforts as the leaders themselves have their nose in the wheel…
Talking about performance takes on its full meaning.
